Going by the perfectly sophisticated femininity of the Ella Brown Couture designs, one would never know that its originator had no
formal training before starting the Ella Brown Couture label.  Adefunke Adegbola trusted her instincts and went into the fashion
business.
.
It all started when she was much younger and growing up in Nigeria.  “I’ve always wanted to be a fashion designer!  I will cut, chop,
snip, sew and tack anything that came my way.  My mother is one of my biggest inspirations.  She is such a creative individual and
there is always a nice touch that shows her personal style and the way she puts colours together.”

Adefunke finally decided in 2004 to launch her first collection while still running her line in Chicago.  She moved to Los Angles,
California, in 2006, to develop the brand into something even bigger and better while her Fall 2007 collection was showcased at the
Miami Fashion Week and Chicago Fashion Week respectively.  The collection is about styling the woman who loves to stand out and
has an appreciation for luxury.  While the mood is very luxurious and glamorous, it still has a very raw edge.  Every piece has an
exotic extra bold statement.  Adefunke says, “I love working with fabrics that compliment a woman’s anatomy—think fluid silk,
Brazilian Chamuese, delicate chiffon and predominantly jewel tone with some spice of a huge gem stone hiding somewhere.”

The brand's presence is growing, with over 40 high-end boutiques and bridal galleries in the United States and Asia carrying pieces
from the Ella Brown Couture line.  The brand is also growing its collection and includes exotic skin and genuine leather bags,
eyewear and fine jewelleries.  The brand will also launch its cosmetics line and fragrance in 2009, with its first flagship store in
Lagos, Nigeria.
